agoo.reviews

Honest reviews of the places you use. A score nobody can buy.

Agoo Reviews is an open review platform for Ghana and Africa, at agoo.reviews. Anyone with an account confirmed by phone or email can review any business, every review carries a label saying how it was checked, and money never changes a score, the order of reviews or a place in search.

Reading is open to everyone, with no account. Run a business? Manage your page in Agoo

Why it’s different

A review site that answers to readers.

Every business on Agoo Reviews is held to the same rules, whether it pays Agoo or has never heard of it.

Nobody can buy a better score

Money never changes a score, the order of reviews or a place in search.

Nothing on a page is for sale: no featured places, no paid badges, no pinned reviews. It’s built into Agoo Reviews itself. The part that works out scores and search order can’t see plans, payments or whether a business uses Agoo.

Eban, the fence: it keeps a family safe from the outside.
  • Every review says how it was checked

A label on each review says what was confirmed about the person behind it, from a real Agoo check-in or booking down to a confirmed email. Readers can narrow a page to one label; the score stays the same.

  • Made for Ghana, and for Africa

Agoo’s own categories, written for the places people use here: banks and mobile money points, clinics, schools, shops, guest houses and chop bars. Each branch shows its town, and its GhanaPost digital address where it’s known.

  • Built for the phone in your hand

Sign in with a code by text or email, with no password. Pages stay light on a budget phone and a busy network, and the Agoo Reviews apps for iPhone and Android carry the same pages, natively.

Verification labels

Every review says how it was checked.

A label says what was confirmed about the person behind a review, never that the review is true. Readers can narrow any page to one label, and the score stays the same: labels never move it.

How scores work
  1. Verified visitAgoo’s own record shows a check-in or booking at this place. The strongest label, and only possible where the place uses Agoo.
  2. Invited by the businessThe business sent its review link to all its customers, with no choosing.
  3. Phone confirmedThe reviewer’s account has a confirmed phone number.
  4. Email confirmedThe reviewer’s account has a confirmed email address.
  5. Proof seen by AgooAdded to any label when, after a question about a review, Agoo saw proof of the visit, such as a receipt.

For readers

Read what people really say, then decide.

Search by name, category or town, and put the results in the order you choose: best match, most reviewed, highest score or newest reviews. Each place shows its score with how it was worked out, the spread of stars, how its reviews were checked and how often the business replies. Reading is open to everyone, with no account.

  • Narrow any page to one label, such as Verified visits only, or to a number of stars; the score stays the same
  • No featured, sponsored or promoted places, ever: nobody chooses or pays for a spot
  • Write a review with a free account, confirmed by a code by text or email, with no password
  • Show as a first name and initial, such as Kofi M., or a name you choose; keep your profile private, and delete your account and its reviews at any time
  • Add a business that’s missing, and report a review that breaks the rules

For businesses

Answer every review. Never hide one.

Every business can claim its page free, correct its facts, reply to any review in public and flag one that breaks the published rules. Agoo organisations that serve the public get their page 14 days after their Owner and Admins are told, with every branch listed, and manage it in the Console under Feedback → Public reviews. No business can edit, hide, reorder or pay to remove a review.

  • Replies, flags and legal notices are free for every business, paying or not
  • Alerts for new reviews, and an overview of your score, its trend and your reply rate
  • Ask everyone or no one: invitations never pick out the happy customers
  • Insights, website widgets, AI reply drafts and branch comparisons come with the paid review tools
  • Leaving Agoo keeps your page open; only the Verified visit label stops

The review QR code

From your front desk to a Verified visit.

Print the review QR poster for a counter, a waiting room or the door, or let the kiosk show it after check-out. A visitor scans it with their phone’s camera and lands on your page. When their confirmed phone matches a check-in or booking, their review carries Verified visit, the strongest label there is.

  • A code for each branch, made in Public reviews or with your other QR codes
  • Never counted against your tracked QR codes
  • The same poster for everyone: no choosing who gets asked
  • A rating badge for your website, always marked as reviews on Agoo

Review tools

Pay for tools, never for a better page.

Review tools come at three levels, and Agoo plans include one. Paid levels help a business ask more customers and understand what they say. They never touch the page, the score or a place in search.

How scores work

A score anyone can work out.

Every place is scored by the same published formula, from the stars and dates of its published reviews. Nobody can pay to change it, and being an Agoo customer makes no difference.

Hwe Mu Dua, the measuring stick: we check our own work.
  • Everyone starts from the same point

Each place starts as if it already had 5 reviews of 3.5 stars, so one five-star review can’t make a 5.0, and one bad day can’t sink it.

  • Newer reviews count for more

A review counts fully when it’s new, and its weight halves every 12 months.

  • Old reviews stop counting

After 24 months a review stays on the page for the record, but no longer counts in the score.

  • A score shows from 3 reviews

Until then, the page says “No score yet”.

The worked example from the score page on agoo.reviews.

What never counts

  • Money, of any kind
  • Whether a business uses Agoo, and its plan
  • Labels: every review counts the same, whatever its label
  • Replies, and how fast they come
  • Answers to a business’s private surveys
  • Reviews still being checked, held or removed

Trust and moderation

Moderated by people, to rules everyone can read.

Ardent runs Agoo Reviews and moderates it with its own team. The rules are published, decisions come with reasons, and the numbers are reported in the open.

Read the guidelines
  • AI screens first, people decide

Every new review is screened as it arrives. Anything doubtful goes to Ardent’s own moderation team, who decide against the published guidelines. Moderators never change a review’s words.

  • Rules, reasons and appeals

Anyone can report a review and a business can flag one, free. When a review comes down, both sides are told which rule it broke and can appeal.

  • Notice and takedown

A formal route for a defamation or privacy complaint, handled as Ghana’s law sets out, with every step on record.

  • A transparency report

How many reviews were published, held and removed, and why, with paying and non-paying businesses counted side by side.

  • Extra care where it matters

Clinics, schools and places of worship open only after a moderator confirms them. Staff there are named by role, and those reviews never show on a reviewer’s profile.

  • What reviewers share stays with us

Reviewers show as a first name and initial, such as Kofi M., or a name they choose. No business ever sees their phone number or email.
